Canfield restaurant to indefinitely close after staff quits, searching for new owner

CANFIELD TWP., Ohio - A Canfield restaurant will be closing its doors indefinitely as the search begins for a new owner.
21 News caught up with Katie Berndt, the daughter of the owners of Pour House in Canfield. Berndt told 21 News the restaurant's current manager is quitting because he wanted to spend more time with his family.
This was followed by the rest of the staff quitting alongside the manager in his support.
"Not one single person gave my parents a notice or anything. So with the whole staff quitting and no time to find others, we have to shut down," Berndt said.
Berndt told 21 News her father John Berndt has been doing this for so long he "cannot handle the stress or anything on his heart" anymore, so he chose to sell the restaurant.
Berndt said several offers are on the table right now, but everything is still in the early process due to how abrupt this all happened.
The restaurant's last day of business before the closure is Thursday, May 22. There is no time frame for when the Canfield location can reopen.
In the meantime, fans of Pour House can still visit the restaurant's Poland location on Center Road.
A post on the Poland location's Facebook page states that it has not been affiliated with the Canfield location for more than three years and there are no plans to close this location.
